Silas started Straight Ledger Bookkeeping to help small business owners keep accurate books and understand what their numbers are telling them. He works with contractors, plumbers, landscapers, roofers, grading companies, handymen, and other service business owners, helping with cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping, monthly bookkeeping, and account reconciliations. He has also worked with restaurants and realtors.
Silas loves talking with people and finding ways to help them. He comes from a family of builders and has worked in cabinetry and construction himself, so trade businesses are where his passion lies.
Silas earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University, graduating summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The Accounting Department also named him its Student of the Year. He brings that same care and attention to detail to every client’s books.
His background includes accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll, along with years of transportation and logistics operations experience. As a senior dispatcher for a trucking company, Silas helped manage the dispatch team and handled payroll for the dispatchers. He understands the demands of managing day-to-day business operations, and that role is where his passion for helping others took hold.
Silas has also worked in cabinetry and done building and hands-on labor work over the years. Coming from a family of builders, he understands the work his trade clients do every day.
That experience shapes how he works with clients. Owners are busy running the business, so Silas keeps the books organized and current, then helps them understand their reports.
Silas loves to help and truly enjoys a challenge. He always wants things done right and every question answered, so his clients don’t have to worry about the numbers in their books and can focus on building their businesses.
Silas has experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
Silas speaks English and Portuguese.
Silas has earned these Intuit certifications.
